What Does RSA Do?

  • RSA’s primary purpose is to protect and defend your pension and benefits.
  • RSA is the only organization recognized by the courts to represent retirees of MEA, MESSA, and MEA FS.
  • RSA’s latest court success will put up to $4800 EVERY YEAR GOING FORWARD into the pockets of over 600 qualified members and their spouses if they are on Medicare.
  • RSA has passionate and skilled members—all volunteer-to fight for your rights (and we are always looking for more former colleagues to help out. If you are interested, please email us!).
  • RSA searched for and engaged a team of experienced, successful attorneys skilled in retirement and labor litigation.
  • RSA keeps members updated regularly on news impacting their retiree benefits–including information from the Staff Pension Board meetings, Staff Retirement Office, and activities via the newly revised RSA website and newsletters, members-only Facebook page, President’s Notes, and emails.
  • RSA helps you keep in touch with former colleagues through both the annual meeting and regional meetings. RSA also maintains a membership directory on its website that is updated monthly.
  • RSA protects you AND your beneficiary. Upon your death, your beneficiary is eligible for membership. The recent court settlement won by RSA reinstated benefits for both the retiree and his/her spouse.
